Various factors for soil formation are :

1. Parent Rock : Provides the basic material for formation of rock. Dictates the type of soil in a region, mineral content etc.

2. Climate : Breaks the parent rock into smaller pieces and finer particles.

3. Biotic Factors : Includes the vegetation, fauna, and microbes present in an area. Enter the rock through fissures and holes and help in weathering of rocks, slowly but continuously.

4. Time : All factors work together for a long time to create few centimeters of soil.
