>> A sheep or yak body has a thick coat of hair called " fleece".

* the first step involves shearing.

* The process of removing the fleece using special clippers is called shearing.

* Shearing is done manually with a razor or with the help of a shearing machine.

* Shearing does not hurt the sheep because the uppermost layer of the skin which is remove along with fleece is dead.

>> The sheared hair is clean and washed in tanks to remove grease, dust and dirt. This is called scouring. Now- a- days scouring is done machines.

>> The cleaned hair are sent to a factory where hair of different textures are separated or sorted. This is called sorting.

* Small fluffy fibres called burrs are picked out from the hair. The fibres are scoured again and dried.

* Now the wool is ready to drawn into fibres.

>> Next, the hair are sent into a 'carding' machine.

* it combs the loose wool fibres into a sheet.

* This sheet is twisted into a rope or silver. This silver is twisted and stretched into a yarn.

* The yarn is wound to form balls of wool.

>> Now the wool is ready to use.

Hope this helps...
