Answer:
Venkat Iyer was working in IBM. He left his well settled life. and here his transition from techie to farmer started. He understood importance of organic farming, and he followed it ignoring advices given by many farmers around. Eventually he understood that his decision was right. Nature did its job well. Then he decided to sow traditional rice variety. He spoke with many farmers bit they were already shifted to hybrid after many conversations when he was talking with Baban's father and other elders they mentioned the name of Kasbai. When he asked them about the seeds and they told that it had ‘disappeared’.The tales of Kasbai made them more determined to get it. He thought the government may know something about it. but the officer had not even heard of this rice variety. He rattled off the names of a number of latest hybrids and even offered to give him some of them free of cost for a trial. Cursing himself for wasting time with him Venkat moved on to the next destination. Then he visited Adivasi Mahamandal at Kasa which buys rice from the Adivasi villagers on behalf of the government. Kasbai did not figure in their files. However, the officer incharge here had more knowledge of rice and did remember Kasbai being sold to him a few years ago. Then he went to Dhanivari, looking for Devu Handa whowas sure that there was not a single villager in his area who would have the seeds of Kasbai. According to him, the only people who still grew it were the Adivasis in a hamlet at the foothills of the mountains in the next village Asarvari. Finally in Asarvari village, he got Kasbai at an old Adivasi woman. and Finally the search was over. Venkat Iyer was very happy to get Kasbai.
