When an Iron object is to be electroplated with copper, both the object and the Copper electrode are connected with a battery and inserted in the electrolyte. Here the electrolyte used is the Copper sulphate solution. Here Cu is made the anode[the metal which is to be deposited] and the Iron object is made the cathode.
