Describe what happens to solar energy on reaching the earth's atmosphere.

As solar rays reach the earth some of these radiations are absorbed by the earth and is released back to the atmosphere. The green house gases that are present in the atmosphere trap the heat and do not allow it to escape. This results in keeping our planet warm and helps in human survival. This is also known as 'global warming'.
