Froth Floatation Process:

  1. Place sulphide ore, water, pine oil and detergent in a tank.
  2. Blast the compressed air to rotate the agitator in the tank. This helps in formation of forth.
  3. This combines all the materials inside the container.
  4. The pine oil wets the sulphide and water wets the gangue particle. The detergent is only used for formation of froth.
  5. Forth with sulphide is lighter compared to the water with gangue.
  6. Sulphide floats and gangue sinks.
  7. The froth is taken in the another container and it is dried to get pure form.

The image for the Froth Floatation Process is given below.

After sometimes, the forth gets stabilised and sulphide starts to sink. So, some of the stabilisers such as cresols or aniline is added. It makes the froth stay for a long time.
