describe xylem function
Answers
-» Xylem is mainly concerned with the conduction of water and minerals. It also provides mechanical support to a plant.
-» It forms a continuous channel through the roots, stems, leaves and other aerial parts.
FUNCTIONS OF XYLEM ARE:-
• Tracheids and vessels allow the transport of water and minerals vertically.
• Xylem parenchyma cells store food and help in the sideways conduction of water.
• Xylem fibres are mainly supportive in function.

Answer:
"Xylem" is a type of "vascular tissue" in plants. Function of xylem is that it transports water and dissolved substances to different parts of the plant like "roots, stems and leaves". It also provides support and acts as storage unit of the plant.
The components of xylem are
• Tracheid
• Vessels
• Parenchyma
• Fibers
Functions of components of xylem are:
Xylem Tracheid’s form the conductive cells. The structure of these cells is elongated with tapered ends.
Xylem vessels provide rigidity to the cell wall and are generally found in flowering plants.
Xylem Parenchyma does the storage and secretion and the cells of this component are living.
Xylem Fibers provided support to the plant. It is somewhere in between parenchyma and tracheids.
