Answer:

Each year, I buy a new dress for Diwali. This year too, I went shopping for the dress. This time however, it was not  that much of a pleasant experience as it has always been.

To begin with, I got stuck in the traffic. Somehow, the entire city seemed to be on the roads even though it was 3 in the afternoon. By this time, the rush of school buses is cleared and the office goers are not on their way home yet. I was mistaken! The cops had a hard time clearing the traffic.

Next, the staff at the mall were a haggard lot too. Too many cars coming in, and very few people to handle the incoming traffic. They quickly ran out of parking spots, but people kept insisting on parking their vehicles in the basement. Eventually, the mall parking had to be closed and we had to find a spot outside. That was another tough task.

Further, the shops at the mall were overcrowded, as were the elevators. It was difficult to go from one rack to the other because people had left their shopping carts where ever they felt like. It blocked the way and caused inconvenience. Though I knew exactly what I wanted to buy, it took a lot of time and patience to make my way through lots of excited shoppers.

When I finally managed to select my dress, I took it to the changing rooms to try it on, but not surprisingly, there was a long queue there too. The staff on duty was struggling to keep count of the number of items being taken into each of the changing stalls. Fifteen minutes later, I was at the check-out counter.

I was thrilled to have found the dress I wanted, but it would be another 20 minutes before I could pay for the outfit and own it.  Finally I bought it and made my way to the parking spot and drove back home, caught in the thick of the peak traffic hours! The thought of the new outfit however, made my frown disappear, but I have decided to be better organized. Next year I will go shopping before the traffic build-up around festivals happens. The time saved could be spent on decorating my home instead!
