In 1950 , the government set up a Commission to help , design and execute suitable policies for development that was known as Planning Commission.

1⃣ To uplift India and Indians out of poverty and building a modern technical and industrial based nation.

2⃣ The planning commission had to decide which industry would be initiated by the public sector and which would be by the private sector.

3⃣ It also play to introduce a balance between the development of each region of India.
