Explanation:

Description: Wavelength is the distance from one crest to another, or from one trough to another, of a wave (which may be an electromagnetic wave, a sound wave, or any other wave). ... This means the longer the wavelength, lower the frequency. In the same manner, shorter the wavelength, higher will be the frequency.

Firsly let us know about wave

  • A wavemotion is a means of transferring energy from one point to another without any actual transportation of matter between these points

For example :-

  • when we throw a peice of stone on the surface of water ,we observe circle of ever increasing radius ,till they strike the wall of pond .

Now according to our question:-

Wavelength :- It is the one of the characteristics of wave . It is represented by the sign of lambda ~A Greek letter ( λ ).

The distance between two adjacent crest and tough of the wave or distance between two similar neighbouring points .

Happy learning :)
