Descriptive answer for why did slavery begin and why was it abolished in french colonies
Answers
Slavery began back in bible times because the lighter people didn't want the darker people to outnumber them. So the lighter people thought they were better than the darker people and that's why racism is here today. I don't know how the french people abolished it though.
The French needed workers for plantations in the areas, but the europeans did not want to work in far flung, unknown lands. Thus started a three way trade in slaves between Europe, Africa and America in the 17th century. This was know as the triangular slave trade.
The national convention after long debates passed a law in 1794 which declared slavery illegal and freed slaves in Frances overseas colonies. After ten years, Napoleon reintroduced slavery to please the plantation owners who considered enslaving African blacks as their right. The slaves were known as African negros.
Finally slavery was abolished in 1848
