Avul Pakir Zainul Abideen Abdul Kalam, known as Missile Men, was born on 15 October 1931 in a Muslim family in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. Dr A. P.J. Abdul Kalam’s mother Ashiamma was a homemaker and father Zainul Abideen was a sailor. He was the 11th President of India and an eminent Indian scientist.

Apj Abdul Kalam worked in important organizations like DRDO and ISRO. He has received many honours such as Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Doctor of Science, Supreme Citizen of India etc. He died on 27 July 2015 due to a heart attack while teaching at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong.
