Dussehra is a ten days and nine nights long Hindu festival. It marks the victory of goodness over evil power such as victory of Rama over Ravana and victory of Durga over Mahishasura.Dussehra is a most important Hindu festival celebrated every year by the Hindu people all over the country. As we know that India is the land of festivals. Many festivals are celebrated here with great joy. Each festival has its own importance. Dussehra puja is one of the most important festival of India.


It is celebrated for ten days with great happiness and enthusiasm. In this festival people used to keep fasting for goddess durga.


Dussehra is also known as Durga Puja. Their is a legend behind celebrating this festival. It is said that goddess durga killed the demon Mahishasura, as it was the blessings of the demon that he would not die with any thing and anyone, except an unborn women. Therefore, tridev ( brahma, vishnu, mahesh ) bring their shakti together and formed a powerful devi and named durga.


Also, it is said that Lord Rama worshipped goddess durga for nine days, and on the tenth day, he killed Ravan.


From then, we are celebrating this festival. This festival remarks the victory of good over bad.
