For agriculture the fertile land is very necessary but in dessert there is no fertile land while there is soft sand that is why agriculture is not possible in dessert.

In deserts, there is very little rainfall throughout the year (less than 50cm per year). Moreover the soil in the deserts are sandy and are unable to hold water that is required for the growth of plants (the soil is not fertile). Since the number of trees in deserts is very few, soil erosion by wind takes place at high rate.
For all the above reasons, agriculture is not suitable in deserts.
