deserts have high annual range of temperature. why?

Due to their location( i.e. away from the coastal areas) they don't have the cloud cover and thus have a high annua range of temperature.

Deserts Do not have rainfall and thus they are really hot in temperature.The sun rays falls directly towards them.Generally Deserts are located towards the margins of the plates.
