Genetically modified food items are those in which their DNA is manipulated through the process of genetic engineering to obtain products required by humans.  Some of the genetically modified food items includes - Golden Rice, Wheat, Milk, Soy, etc.

Rice has been genetically modified to enhance the nutritional value. For example : Rice containing high amount of 'Vitamin A'. This rice is termed as Golden Rice.

Milk has also been modified by bioengineering. The first cow which was genetically modified named as 'Rosie' produced milk that contained the human alpha-lactalbumin.  High yeilding wheats were also introduced by the process of bioengineering.
