Design a square footing of uniform thickness for an axially loaded column of 450 mm x 450 mm size. The safe bearing capacity of soil is 190 kN/m². Load on column is 850 kN. Use M20 concrete and Fe 415 steel.

Nowadays it is a common practice to build partition walls over floor slabs without a beam below it. It is frequent in commercial multistoried buildings that consist of framed structures. With changing needs , these partition walls get their locations changed. It is better to keep these partition walls light weight as far as possible. Wooden or aluminum framed partitions are light weight. But even brick partition walls upto 125 mm/5″ thick are constructed. These are non-loadbearing walls. For these brick partition walls 100 kg/sqm live load is increased for each partition during the design.

So if the load consideration is there in the design such partition walls can be constructed.
