mexico holds election every six years to.elect its president. but until.2000 every elections have been won by a party called the PRI ( institutional revolutionary party). oppsotion party did contest in elections but never managed to win. the Pri was known to use many dirty tricks to win elections. all those who were emoloyed in government offices had to attend pri's party meeting. teachers in government schools used to force parents to vote for Pri. Medias largely ingnoed the activites of the opposition party except to criticise them. the pri also sent a large sum of money in the campaign for their candidates. so by taking these steps we cant tell.mexico is a democracy
