•  The liquid water component of earth is called Hydrosphere. Hydrosphere includes streams, rivers, ponds lakes and seas.  It covers almost 70% of the surface areas of the Earth. It is always in motion just like the atmosphere.  

• The total water on earth is 1.3 billion cubic kilometres, 97% of this water is salt water while 2.5 % is fresh water.  

• The volume of freshwater  available on earth is so low and this freshwater is also overused and wasted,  due to this  we face water scarcity.  

• Floods, altered weather patterns , increased demand for industries and daily use and increase in water pollution are some of the reasons for the water scarcity.
