Oscar Wilde's "The Canterville Ghost" is an amusing yet tragic tale. Simon Canterville the protagonist of the story is a ghost that haunts Canterville Chase. He had murdered his wife and hence, was starved to death by his brothers-in-law. The bloodstain was that of his wife. Mrs. Otis wanted the stain to be removed and her son Washington, promptly removed it with the help of Paragon Detergent. There was an ominous thunderclap once the stain was removed. Nevertheless, the stain kept on returning everyday. The Ghost would use the colors belonging to young Miss Otis to put the stain back in its place. The colors kept on changing from red, to vermilion, to emerald. The result of the efforts made by the Ghost did not make the Otis family afraid, but only amused them.
