power of 10 = non significant

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 = significant

leading zeros = non significant

trapped zeros = significant

trailing zeros are of 2 types;

1. if there is decimal point = significant figure

2. if there is no decimal point = non significant figure

Order of Magnitude

we have to arrange the number in such a way that the number should be 0.5<=N<5

example: 1)6875.6 ×10^21 = 0.68756 × 10^25

2)0.000854 × 10^-25 = 0.854 × 10^-28
