Destiny of a nation is shaped in itsclassrooms. As the Indian Education Commission of 1964-66, also known as the Kothari Commission, had stated that the destiny of our country is being shaped in our classrooms. No doubt, the knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired by students form the basis for nation building.

  • This statement was made by the Kothari Commission.
  • This panel comprised by India's leading educational leaders who were looking to reform the nation post Independence.
  • It also had several connections overseas as they wanted to watch and apply certain teaching principles and methods already tried and tested in relatively developed countries of that time.
  • They brought in major changes in methodology of teaching, textbooks, curriculum and examinations.
  • Though this panel existed for a very short period, it reformed and drew in more importance to the education sector.
