Modifications of Tap Root for Storage of Food:
Taproots of carrot, turnip and adventitious roots of sweet potato, get swollen and store food. The secondary roots remain thin. Hypocotyl, i.e. the embryonic region between cotyledons and radicle may also join the taproot in storing food.
