Leukocytes (white blood cells) act like independent, single-celled organisms and are the second arm of the innate immune system. The innate leukocytes include the phagocytes(macrophages, neutrophils, and dendritic cells), innate lymphoid cells, mast cells, eosinophils, basophils, and natural killer cells.

Immune system cells are known as leukocytes. These are white blood cells that help in defending and fighting against viruses and bacteria.

Different kinds of immune cells the two main categories are lymphocytes and phagocytes.

Lymphocytes are present in the blood flow having receptors that responds against different harmful antigen.

B cells: Major type of lymphocyte, carry antigens to T cells and defend against infectious cells

T cells: Kill infected cells and make other cells fight, is a lymphocyte.

Neutrophils: Naturally occurring, ingest the bacteria and break them down

Mast cells: Defense against allergic reactions

Natural killers:  Can identify infected cells, cause a programmed death in order to eliminate the infected cells.
