Mauryan Empire :

The founder of the Mauryan dynasty was Chandragupta Maurya who established the empire in 321 BC after defeating nandas. Chandragupta established a vast empire including Bihar, Bengal ,the Gangetic Plain and parts of central Asia. he also defeated Seleucus Nikator , the greek general of Alexander, who ruled Afghanistan. after Chandragupta , his son Bindusar ascended the throne. Ashoka succeeded his father bindusar in 273 BC. the battle of Kalinga was a turning point in his life. Ashoka became a follower of Buddhism and done a great job in spreading Buddhism.After his death, Ashoka was followed by weak successors resulting in the decline of the empire.
