it is the longest part of our elementary canal which has the role of digesting the food and then it sends the absorbed nutrients to the blood vessels for transportation. to increase its surface area for absorption it has finger like projections called villi on its surface . the small intestine recieves juices from the liver , pancreas and secreates some intestinal juices itself to properly digest food . it is divided into 3 parts - duodenum , jejunum and ileum
