Hydrogen sulfide gas produces an offensive “rotten egg” or “sulfur water” odor and taste in the water. Most people can detect hydrogen sulfide in water at concentrations as low as 0.5 milligrams per liter. Concentrations less than 1 milligram per liter give water a "musty" or "swampy" odor.....
