a=5 and d = 2

a3 = a +2d = 9 ............(1)

a8 - a5 = 6

(a +7d) - (a+4d) = 6

a + 7d - a -4d = 6

3d=6

d=2...............(2)

substituting d=2 in (1)

a3 = a+2×2=9

a=9-4=5
