Given:

Pairs:

(i)3/8 and 375/1000

(ii)18/54 and 23/69

(iii)6/10 and 600/1000

(iv)17/27 and 25/45

To find:

Whether the pairs are equal or not.

Solution:

  • 3/8 cannot be reduced further but 375/1000 when divided by 5 multiple times in the numerator and denominator gives 5/8.
  • 18/54 can be reduced to 1/3 and 23/69 can also be reduced to 1/3.
  • 6/10 can be reduced to 3/5 and 600/1000 an also be reduced to 3/5.
  • 17/27 cannot be further reduced but 25/45 can be reduced to 5/9.

Therefore only pairs of options 1, 2 and 3 are equal when written in their simplest forms.
