(a) 1m=100cm

25cm:1m=

1m

25cm

=

100cm

25cm

=

4

1

=1:4

Rs. 40:Rs. 160=

Rs.60

Rs.40

=

16

4

=

4

1

=1:4

So given ratios are in proportion.

Here middle term=1m, Rs. 40 extreme terms=25cm, Rs. 160

(b) 39l:65l=39÷13:65÷13=3:5

6 bottles:10bottles=6:10=3:5

∴39l:65l=6 bottles:10 bottles

So, given ratios are in proportion.

Middle terms=65l,6 bottles, extreme terms=3l,10 bottles

(c) 2kg:80kg=2:80=1:40

25g:625g=25:625=1:25

∴2kg:80kg

=25g:625g

So, given ratio are not m proportion.

(d) 2.5l=2.5×1000ml(1l=1000ml)

=

10

25

×1000ml=25×100ml=2500ml

200ml:2.5l=200:2500=2:25

Rs. 4:Rs. 50=2:25

Middle terms =2.5l, Rs. 4.

So, given ration are in proportion.

Extreme terms=200ml and Rs. 50.
