Answer:

Initial velocity (u) = 10 m/s

Final velocity (v) = 26 m/s

Time taken (t) = 2s

From kinematics first equation :

v = u + at (where a = acceleration)

Explanation:

26 = 10 + 2a

26-10 = 2a

16 = 2a

a = 16/2

a = 8 m/s²

Therefore acceleration = 8 m/s²

Given: initial velocity, u = 10 m/s

           final velocity, v = 26 m/s

           time taken , t = 2s

To Find: acceleration of the coaster, a.

Solution:

To calculate a the formula used:

  • Final velocity = initial velocity + acceleration x time
  • v = u + a x t                  ⇒ First Law of Motion Equation

Applying the above formula:

v = u + at

26 = 10 + a x 2

26 -10 = a x2

16 = a x 2

16 /2 = a

a = 16/2

  = 8

a = 8 m/s²

Hence, the acceleration of the coaster is 8 m/s².
