(ii) Uncertainty in Area ∆A  

Solution

Area = length x width  

         = 1.50 m x 0.20 m

         = 0.30 m2

(ii) Uncertainty in Area ∆A  

Percentage uncertainty in A = Percentage uncertainty in l + Percentage uncertainty in w

                               ∆/ x100  =   ∆/ x100  + ∆/ x100  

                                   ∆/ x100 =       "0.02" /"1.50"  x100  + "0.01" /"0.20"  x100  

                                 ∆/ x100 =  1.3   + 5  

                                 ∆/ x100 =  6.3
