1)Set up 150ml beaker on the wire gauze over the bunsen burner and place the thermometer in the liquid so that it does not not touch the beaker.

2)Heat the specimen until bubbles form & record the temperature.

3)Remove the heat & watch for the bubbles to stop forming as the liquid cools at the same temperature.The literature value of Ethylene glycol is 197.3°C
