Determine the equivalent (total) resistance for each of the following circuits below​

Current always passes through the wire with least resistance. So, after passing through the first resistance along X− terminals it goes to the first resistor along y−terminals, as given in the following diagrams.

So, the two resistors act as if they are in series.

∴ Total resistance between X and y is:-

=R+R

=2R
