Given:

Two Force vectors,

F _1=100N inclined at 0°

F _2=200N inclined at 90°

To FInd:

The inclination of resultant of two forces.

Solution:

When two vectors A and B are added, the angle \beta made by their resultant R with A is given by

         \beta =tan^{-1}(\frac{Bsin\alpha }{A+Bcos\alpha } )

where \alpha is the angle between the vectors.

Substituting the given values of the vectors and the angle in the formula we get,

        \beta =tan^{-1}(\frac{200sin90^o }{100+200cos90^0 } )

   ⇒ \beta =tan^{-1}(2)=63.43^0

Hence, the resultant of the two forces is inclined at an angle of 63.43°.
