The inclination of the resultant force is 26.56°.

Given,

Forces: 40N at 0° and 20N at 90°.

To Find,

The inclination of the resultant force.

Solution,

We know that, R = √(A² + B² + 2ABcosθ)

⇒ R = √(40² + 20² + 2x40x20xcos90°)

       = √(1600 + 400 + 0)

       = √2000

       = 20√5 N

For the inclination of resultant force, tan∅ = Bsinθ/(A + Bcosθ)

⇒ tan∅ = 20sin90°/(40 + 20cos90°)

            = 20x1/(40 + 0)

            = 20/40

            = 0.5

⇒ ∅ = tan⁻¹ (0.5)

       = 26.56°

Hence, the inclination of the resultant force is 26.56°.
