x intercept = ( 4 ,0 )

equation: y = -3x + 12

comparing with y = mx + c

slope m = -3 ;  y intercept c= 12

∴ y intercept is (0,12)

let the line intersect x axis at a point Q ( a,0)

slope = (y₂ - y₁) / (x₂-x₁)

[ take the points as (0,12) and (a,0)  ]

-3 = (0-12) / (a-0)

-3 = -12 / a

-3a = -12

⇒a = 4

∴ x intercept is ( 4,0 )
