Comparing equation

x²-4x +4 =0

with STANDARD FORM

ax²+bc+c=0

a=1 ,b= 4 ,c= 4

we know that

∆=b²-4 ac

 = { {(4)}^{2}  - 4 \times (1) \times (4)}

 = 16 - 16 = 0

Here

∆= 0

The roots are real and equal

The nature of the roots are real and equal because the discriminant is zero...!
