To find the nature of the roots,

we must use the following formula:-

b {}^{2} - 4ac

If,

b {}^{2} - 4ac < 0 - - - imaginary \: \\b {}^{2} - 4ac = 0 - - -equal \: and \: real \: \\ b { }^{2} - 4ac - - not \: equal \: and \: real

So,

2 {}^{2} - 4(3)( - 8 ) = 4 + 96 = 100

Hence,

the nature of roots are real but not equal to each other
