Thus the normality of HCl is 0.04

Explanation:

The equation pf the reaction is given as;

NaOH + HCl -> NaCl + H2O

Since it is one mole of HCl react with one mole of NaOH

The equation can be solved by using the molarity formula.

M1 x V1 = M2 x V2

  • M1 = Molarity of HCl
  • V1 = Titration volume of HCl
  • M2 = Molarity of NaOH
  • V2 = Volume of NaOH used

Example:

20ml of 0.1 M HCl was used to neutralize 50ml NaOH solution during titration.

20 x 0.1 = M2 x 50

M2 = 0.04 M0.04

Thus the normality of HCl is 0.04
