Hii buddy!

Answer :

For Oxygen atom :

  1. No. Of protons = 8.
  2. No. Of electrons = 8.
  3. No. Of valence electrons = 6.
  4. Valency = - 2.

For Oxide ion :

  1. No. Of protons = 8.
  2. No. Of electrons = 10.
  3. No. Of valence electrons = 8.
  4. Valency = 0.

  • The oxide ion will be more stable than the oxygen atom, because its octet is complete.
