Requirement of power by the pump is 7848 Watt.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:  Rate of volume of water is  4m3/min

             Height of Reservoir is 12m

To Find:  Requirement of power by the pump.

Formula Used: power = work / time

                          Mass = Density x Volume

                          Potential Energy= m x g x h

                          Here, m = Mass of water

                          g = Acceleration of gravity

                           h = Height of Reservoir

Solution:  Rate of volume of water = 4 m^3/min

                 Using standard value of  Density of water = 1000 kg/m^3

                 Rate of mass of water = 4 x 1000 kg/min

                                                          = 4000 kg/min

                 Work= Potential Energy

                               = m x g x h

                  Using standard value Acceleration of gravity =9.81 m/s^2

                  Power = Work/Time

                              = m x g x h/Time

                              = (4000 x 12 x 9.81)/60

                               = 7848 Watt

                         Thus, Requirement of power by the pump is 7848 Watt.
