suppose the point divides divides the line in the ratio k:1. then by the section formula we have , (3k+2/k+1,7k-2/k+1)=coordinates of the point which divides the line segment.
so 2(3k+2/k+1)+(7k-2/k+1)=4.then by solving this equation we get, k=2/9( don't take the negative sign). and thus it divides the line segment in the ratio 2:9.
