i) Let C(-6, k) divides the line joining points A(-3, -1) and B(-8, 9) internally in the ratio 1:t
ii) So by section formula, considering only x coordinates, (1*-8 + t*-3)/(1 + t) = -6
==> -8 - 3t = -6 - 6t
==> 3t = 2; solving t = 2/3
So it divides in the ratio 3:2
Applying again section formula and solving k = 5
Thus the point (-6, 5) divides internally in the ratio 3:2 the line joining the points (-3, -1) and (-8, 9).
