Given :

Given forces : 6kN/m , 3kN/m

Given distances : 4.5m , 1.5m

To find :

Determine the resultant force and specify where it acts on the beam measured from point B.

Solution :

F₁ = 3 × 4.5 / 2 = 6.75kN

F₂ = 3 × 6 = 18kN

Fr = F₁ + F₂

Fr = 6.75kN + 18kN

Fr = 24.75kN

M = F₁ × 1.5 + F₂ × 3

M = 6.75 × 1.5 + 18 × 3

M = 64.125kNm

Mₐ = Fr × d

64.125 = 24.75 × d

d = 2.59m
