N - 6 = 24X

N - 10 = 28Y

=> N = 24X + 6

& N = 28 Y + 10

Equating both

24X + 6 = 28Y + 10

=> 24X = 28Y + 4

Dividing by 4 both sides

=> 6X = 7Y + 1

=> Equation stands true for

Y = 5 &  X  6

N = 24 * 6 + 6  = 150

or N = 28 * 5 + 10 = 150

Smallest number = 150 which leaves remainder 6 and 10 when divided by 24 and 28 respectively.
