Determine the value of 'a', if (x - a) is a factor of the polynomial x-(a -1)x+2.

if (x-a) is the factor then a must be the zero

let the polynomial be f(x)

f(x)= x^2-(a-1)x+2

f(a)= a^2-(a-1)a+2

= a^2-a^2+a+2

= a+2=0

hence, a= -2
