Determine the value of r so that the line passes through (-3,r) and (0,-2) with slope -1/3​

When two points of the straight line are given, the slope of this line is

(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1).

Here this is equal to

(-2-8)/(r-6) = -10/(r-6)

and must be 1.

So

-10/(r-6)=1,

r-6=-10,

r=6-10=-4. This is the answer.
