Given : A meeting of envoys was attended by 4 Koreans and 2 Filipinos

three envoys were selected at random one after the others,

To Find :

values of the random variable F representing the number of Filipinos

Solution:

3 out of 6 can be selected in ⁶C₃  =  20 Ways

F = 0    =>   ⁴C₃.²C₀  =  4  Ways   => probability = 4/20  = 1/5

F = 1    =>   ⁴C₂.²C₁  =  12  Ways   => probability = 12/20  = 3/5

F = 2   =>    ⁴C₁.²C₂  =   4  Ways  => probability = 4/20 = 1/5

F = 3 not possible as only 2 are there

Expected value of F = 0 * (1/5) + 1(3/5) + 2(1/5)

= 3/5 + 2/5

= 5/5

= 1

values of the random variable F representing the number of Filipinos is 1
