Determine the viscosity of a liquid having kinematic viscosity 6 stokes and specific
gravity 1.9.
Solution. Given :
Kinematic viscosity
Sp. gr. of liquid
Let the viscosity of liquid
v = 6 stokes = 6 cm /s = 6 x 10-4 m/s
= 1.9
=H
Density of the liquid
Density of water
Density of liquid
1.9 =
1000
Now sp. gr. of a liquid
or
kg
.. Density of liquid
= 1000 x 1.9 = 1900
m
.. Using the relation
we get
P
6 x 10-42
u
1900'
u = 6 x 10-4 x 1900 = 1.14 Ns/m²
= 1.14 x 10 = 11.40 poise. Ans.

Answer:

An atmosphere is a layer or a set of layers of gases surrounding a planet or other material body, that is held in place by the gravity of that body. An atmosphere is more likely to be retained if the gravity it is subject to is high and the temperature of the atmosphere is low.

Given: kinematic viscosity 6 stokes and specific  gravity 1.9.

To find The viscosity of a liquid.

Solution: Kinematic viscosity

              Sp. gr. of liquid

             Let the viscosity of liquid

             v = 6 stokes = 6 cm /s = 6 x 10-4 m/s

                = 1.9

                =H

Density of the liquid

Density of water

Density of liquid

1.9 = 1000

Now sp. gr. of a liquid  or  kg

Density of liquid

= 1000 x 1.9 = 1900  m

Using the relation

we get  P  = 6 x 10-42

u = 6 x 10-4 x 1900 = 1.14 Ns/m²

= 1.14 x 10 = 11.40 poise

Hence The viscosity of a liquid is 11.40 poise
